Being an innovator does not mean that you will be a billionaire. Thiel talked about The size of the market is critical in being able to decide if your product will take off or not. For example, If you make a revolutionary new technology for disarming bombs, while it may save many lives, it will not be as profitable as Google or PayPal because they have billions of people using them every day. Thiel said that the perfect startup company is able to start by selling to a niche market but can also be used to reach millions of people later.

Competition kills and the automotive corporations are competing like crazy. Not only will a small startup not thrive in these conditions, it will not even be able to get off the ground.
